Spring Convo was discussed and a correspondence from Debbie Shanks was read, informing the board that there would not be a Spring Convo this year due to a lack of a host church. It was learned that Chandler Church could tentatively host the Spring Convo 2007. Dan Gross is going to work on a survey to be sent to each church to obtain information about their youth programs. From that, a directory will be formed of contacts in each church, regarding the youth. With the information obtained it is also hoped that a list can be compiled of churches that might be interested in hosting a Spring Convo in the future. It was mentioned that a denominational Camp Directors Conference is coming up had been budgeted for, but at this time, it was not known if anyone could attend. The upcoming summer youth camps were discussed. A report from Heather Wallace was read regarding Sr. High Camp, to be held at Camp Epworth in Louisville, IL, July 23-29. The directors will be Chet Snyder and Cheryl Allison. The speaker will be J.C. Groves and worship leader will be Adam Johnson. The theme will be "Chosen" based on Isaiah 41:8-9. They are planning on reusing a Bible study, possibly one that was written by R.B. Mays several years ago. There will be cooks staying there the entire week, but it is hoped that individual churches will commit to help with the meal preparation on various days. The Youth Advisory Cabinet is planning a meeting in March or April to finalize plans. Jr./Jr. High camp was discussed next. The co-directors will be Margaret Allison and Kevin Small. It will be held at Brush Creek Campground, Xenia, IL, June 4-9, 2006. The theme will be "Jesus as Our Ultimate Authority." Two guests, Kevin and Jessica Parrent from the New Hope Church were welcomed to the meeting. They attended Brush Creek Camp last year as staff members and had some concerns and suggestions. Many of the same concerns had also been identified by members of the board and the camp directors. With their helpful input and after much discussion, a set of guidelines was developed for all camp staff and also a list of camp rules was reviewed for campers. It is the recommendation of the committee that these guidelines be presented to each staff member, and that they be asked to sign them. The committee also strongly recommends that a planning meeting be set at a central location for the last of April or the first of May for all camp staff. Assignments of staff will be finalized at that time, along with a tentative camp schedule and an explanation of the new staff guidelines. Attendance is expected for all potential staff. Kevin Small also reported that a night watchman and maybe two would be on duty each night for the 2006 camp. The meeting was adjourned with Kevin offering the closing prayer.
